Pool Leak Detection Cost in Oklahoma: What to Expect
If your pool is losing water faster than evaporation can explain, you probably already know something is wrong. What you might not know is what it costs to find out exactly where the problem is — and fix it.
At 4N Outdoor Living & Pools, we believe in transparent pricing. No guesswork, no surprise invoices. Here's a complete breakdown of what pool leak detection costs in Oklahoma and what you get for every dollar.
Our Starting Price: $475
Pool and spa leak detection at 4N Outdoor Living & Pools starts at $475. That base fee covers two things: an initial consultation where we talk through your symptoms, review your water loss history, and assess your pool or spa before any testing begins — and a dye test, where our technicians introduce a non-toxic dye near suspected leak points (fittings, returns, skimmers, lights) and watch how it moves. If there's a leak nearby, the dye will flow directly toward it.
For many pools, dye testing alone is enough to locate the problem. If we find the leak during this phase, we can often move straight to repair — keeping your total cost as low as possible.
What Costs Extra
Some leaks are harder to find. When dye testing doesn't tell the whole story, we bring in additional diagnostic methods. These are billed on top of the $475 base fee.
Diving
When a visual inspection from the surface isn't enough, our technicians can dive the pool to inspect fittings, lights, and the shell up close — finding leaks that simply aren't visible from above the waterline.
Slab Testing
If your pool sits on or near a concrete slab, or if we suspect a leak beneath the pool deck, slab testing lets us investigate without unnecessary excavation. We use specialized equipment to detect moisture movement under the surface.
Shell Testing
A full shell inspection goes beyond dye testing to examine the structural integrity of your pool's gunite, plaster, or fiberglass shell. Cracks, delamination, and failing bond beams can all cause slow leaks that are easy to miss with a visual inspection alone. Shell testing gives us a complete picture of your pool's condition.
Why Early Detection Saves You Money
A leaking pool isn't just an inconvenience — it's an ongoing expense. A pool losing just 1/4 inch of water per day loses roughly 8,000 gallons per month. At Oklahoma water rates, that adds up fast. Every gallon you add also dilutes your pool chemistry, so you'll spend more on chemicals trying to maintain balance. Water escaping through a crack or fitting saturates the soil around your pool, erodes the deck, and can undermine the structural support beneath your pool shell over time.
The $475 starting fee for detection is almost always a fraction of what you'd spend letting a leak go unaddressed for another season.
What Happens After We Find the Leak?
Detection and repair are separate services. Once we've located the leak, we'll give you a clear, itemized repair quote before any work begins. Most repairs — patching a crack, resealing a fitting, replacing a light niche gasket — can be completed the same day as detection. For more involved repairs like plumbing line replacement or structural gunite work, we'll schedule a follow-up and walk you through exactly what's involved.
Pool vs. Spa Leak Detection
Our $475 starting price covers both pools and spas. Spas and hot tubs can develop leaks at jets, fittings, the shell, or the plumbing connections between the spa and the pool equipment pad. We inspect both your pool and attached spa as part of the same service call when applicable.
